A madman leaves, another returns...
A little while ago our long time drummer Ariën van Weesenbeek announced he would join the ranks of Dutch gothic metal rockers Epica, leaving us no other choice than to let him go. We do understand his career move and we wish him all the best of luck for the future, and we'd like to thank him for all the years of pure blasphemy. We will play a farewell show with Ariën on March 28th at the Mezz club in Breda, Holland. At the same time we are happy to announce the return of Roel Sanders, our drummer on the Grand Grimoire and Bloody Blasphemy albums !!! Roel left God Dethroned in the summer of 2000, but this time he's back to stay with us till the end. Some of you may also know him as the drummer for Inhume (and don't worry, he will continue with that band too). Soon we will start the writing process of a new album with the working title: Passiondale... an epic tale about World War I. Musically the new album will be a mix between Bloody Blasphemy and Lair of the White Worm, so better buckle up fellas !!! Also a bunch of new shows and festivals are in the works, so keep checking our website. Posted by Isaac Delahaye on 01/30/2008 [ comments (3906) ]
Last miute @ Arnhem Metal Meeting
Hi folks, has been some time since there has been an update on our website, cause we've been doing a lot of "behind the scene" things. So no panic, we're still here and we'll start writing new songs for our upcoming album soon. Anyway, today we were asked to substitute one of the bands on the Arnhem Metal Meeting bill... which means we're playing TOMORROW already! A very last minute concert, but seen the great organisation and the good response we had on previous editions, we just couldn't refuse this offer. The festival is already sold out, so we hope all our fans in our home country already bought their ticket Hope to see all of you crazy fucks in front of the stage! We'll definitely rock out, as it has been some time since we've been playing Holland. Cheerio! Posted by Isaac Delahaye on 11/30/2007 [ comments (2505) ]

God Dethroned drummer plays on next EPICA album
The official message, as found on the EPICA website: "We are very happy to announce that Ariën Van Weesenbeek will be the drummer on the next Epica album. For those who aren't familiar with him yet, Ariën is the drummer of the Dutch death metal band God Dethroned (who by the way have just released their new album The Toxic Touch; if you haven't bought it yet, you should do so tomorrow!). Ariën is no stranger to Epica since he already worked together with Coen and Yves in PROJECT SIC as well as with Ad on DELAIN's debut album Lucidity. Just for the record: Ariën's contribution will only be limited to the cd." Since their original drummer Jeroen Simons left the band a couple of months ago, gothic metal act EPICA has been searching for the right guy to replace him. One of the reasons they asked Ariën for the job, is that EPICA's next album will be more heavy than the previous ones. So once again, you can expect the unexpected... If you've never heard of EPICA, feel free to check out their website here. Posted by Isaac Delahaye on 12/13/2006 [ comments (11621) ]
New endorsement deals
Ariën proudly announces that he made a Toxic Pact with Amedia Cymbals and Balbex drumsticks. A real big "thank you" to Patrick vd Kerkhof from Patsticks Import! More info about the Balbex-drumsticks coming up soon. "When I first tried out Amedia cymbals, I immediately noticed the musical character and the powerful cutting tones of the cymbals. It was absolutely jaw-dropping! I'm proud of playing these cymbals, and to have them with me during the next God Dethroned Toxic Live-attack. Combined with my own signature Balbex sticks -the perfect sticks for the job by the way- it will be killer!! Everybody: bring your earplugs, hagh!" -- Ariën Van Weesenbeek

Release shows were great!
A couple of weeks ago we played the official Belgian release show for our new album "The Toxic Touch" in my hometown Ypres. Last friday we played the official Dutch release show in Groningen. Both shows were absolutely great, and we'd like to thank everyone at JOC-Ieper and Vera, everyone in the support acts Demon Squad & Why She Kills, and our road crew Bas, Jurgen, Ozzy, Keezman, Sebastian & Ricardo. Thanx for all the help! We also would like to thank all the Belgian and Dutch fans who were there, especially the ones who screamed their asses off, banged their head, bought our merch and kept us awake till dawn in "t Keldertje" and "de Ster". You guys rule! ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted by Isaac Delahaye on 12/04/2006 [ comments (7355) ]
Greek shows canceled
Unfortunately the upcoming shows in Athens and Thessaloniki, Greece have been canceled today. Everything was already arranged weeks ago and we were really looking forward to play Greece again. However, in the last couple of days we have experienced how certain people can be totally unprofessional and can't stick to their promises, and that's why we decided to pull back before damage is done. We wanna apologize to all our Greek fans who were planning to visit one of the shows. Hopefully we'll be able to play Greece again next year, so be patient duders!! Back home
After 6 weeks of European madness, we're home again. It's always strange to return home after a tour and to pick up a "normal" way of living. But we can look back and be very satisfied; the Blitzkrieg tour with Vader & Severe Torture was a big success and we are happy we were part of it. A big HORNS UP! to everyone who made this trip impossible to forget: Massive Music, TM Brovar, Adam & Piotr (you definitely rock!), Zoë, drivers from hell Chris & Radek (vodki natychmiast!), everyone in Vader, Severe Torture, Sardonic, Goddamned X and Inactive Messiah for the bullshit talk, teaching me PS2 games, sharing drinks and being great people. Hope to meet you all again in the future! And of course we'd like to thank all the people who supported us day after day. See you next time! Expect a lot of new pictures in our gallery soon! AOLmusic.com
Hi again, just a little update to let you know that AOLmusic.com is going to have our latest record "The Toxic Touch" available for streaming from October 30th to November 5th. Click HERE to check it out! The shows in Holland and Belgium have been terribly awesome, and we get tons of great reactions on the new album. I'll put some reviews online as soon as we're home again, so you can read what people have to say about it. Later guys! Posted by Isaac Delahaye on 10/31/2006 [ comments (16454) ]
Tour update
Another update from the road. We're in Holland now, so I finally had the chance to see Aardschok Magazine with my own eyes. Looks killer! Since the last update we've played a lot of cool shows: especially in Austria and Germany the reactions were overwhelming. Yesterday we played the Exhaus in Trier, Germany, where our tour came together with the Napalm Death tour. Was cool to see Born From Pain and to blabber my horrible Belgian dialect with the Napalm Death sound engineer. Part of the speakers blew during the evening, but people went crazy there while all bands were sweating their asses off on stage. If there's one venue where they should put an air-conditioning system, it's definitely THAT place! Anyways, have to keep it rather short, but I'll be back with more blabbering soon. Later!!
